Daily Show report
Last night we were at the Daily Show and had a great time. I was on TV for a split second when they introduced the guest, Fareed Zakaria, the editor of Newsweek. Here's a freezeframe from the broadcast showing that moment.

End of the Hunt
Today we finished up the Treasure Hunt, guaranteeing that we will get to see the Daily Show (probably this week.) Here are pictures from today's outing.

Views of Shea Stadium. When we got off the subway here we saw the Mets team bus being escorted by police as they drove over to Yankee Stadium for the final game today of the Subway Series - the hottest ticket in town. To the right of the stadium I could see where the new stadium is being built.
The final landmark in our treasure hunt: the globes built for the 1964 World's Fair. They are even more impressive once you are underneath them looking up.

The Queens Art Museum - with a huge scaled down model of New York City!
The exhibit on the 1964 World's Fair. I know the Wood family will appreciate that. One picture shows a diagram model of the setup for the fair.
The spaceships from Men In Black!
Visiting the Chinatown section of Queens. Queens is the most ethnically diverse county in the country.

Sunday's Adventures
Yesterday a few of the interns went to hang out in Central Park.
Today we got a group together for breakfast and then we headed up to the Bronx Zoo.
On the way back we stopped off at Yankee Stadium to get a picture. Even though I don't like the Yankees, it's still fun to see "The House that Ruth built." Especially since it will no longer be used, and the new stadium is being built next doors. I also liked the mural of the stadium with all the Yankee legends looking down from heaven.

Treasure Hunt Part II
This morning Shravya, Katie, and I continued on our quest to win the Daily Show tickets.
Our first stop was the Cotton Club on 125th St. in Harlem. Legendary black entertainment has been a fixture here for many decades, and musicians like Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington once performed here. Francis Ford Coppola also made a movie called "The Cotton Club," about race relations in the 1930s.
Then we went further north up Malcolm X boulevard, and found the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
Our last stop was at the Abyssinian Baptist Church. In 1935 this was the largest Protestant congregation in America, and it played a significant role in the Harlem Renaissance.
On the way back I stopped outside another church as I heard gospel music coming from inside. Simply amazing talent.
This afternoon I'm heading out to Central Park with some friends. Tomorrow the hunt will continue as we go to Yankee Stadium and the Bronx Zoo.

The First Week
The first week here in New York City was really great. I thought I would share some photos from my time here so far. The first couple are of my apartment.
We are doing a treasure hunt with some of the other interns, and we were randomly divided up into teams of 3. My teammates for the hunt are Shravya, from India, and Katie, from Canada. See if you can recognize any of the places we have been this weekend. (Answers are at the bottom)
